How NORD VPN works where Vypr gives up

Earlier this year we tested the Vypr VPN service. We experienced repeated streaming content failures, poor service levels despite repeated efforts to contact them.

Vypr says you can use BBC iPlayer or US Netflix easily on their service. If you are a VPN provider, you need to make sure that US Netflix and BBC iPlayer work. That's the benchmark. If BBC iPlayer does not work, then you are not a VPN company. It is that simple.

Here is how it happened!

We wanted to use iPlayer and ITV Hub on ITV.com to watch a match on February 9th 2021 during COVID19 lockdown. It was a Saturday afternoon, we powered up the laptop to watch one of the Six Nations Rugby matches. 

We were hoping Vypr VPN would live up to their performance promise and first-class service.

We weren't getting anywhere so we tweeted a question to Vypr VPN for technical support. The answer came back right away, there wasn't any, then or since. Our tweet remains unanswered 5 months later.

Decided to give Nord VPN a go!

So we decided to download Nord VPN and give that a try with minutes to go before the kick-off. We started Nord VPN and had a question which you can see Nord VPN answered. We switched to DMs to chat and Nord VPN told us to connect to a different server in the UK for faster service. We did so and it was perfect. No buffering for over 35 minutes. Clear as a bell. In July 2021, we have not received a response from Vypr regarding their lack of service in the UK. We have emailed, DM's and tweeted.

What we got from Nord VPN

The Nord VPN Service is excellent. The service Engineer whose initials are D.I was superior in every way. He sorted us out very quickly to get us the fastest available UK Server for the match. He followed up by e-mail later in the day personally.

Does Nord VPN ever fail?

If you have been using a browser for more than 10 minutes and have visited several sites, then decide you want to change location, you will need to close and re-start the browser. Sometimes you need to power up the laptop again. However, that's a small inconvenience.
